What is the intended wear time of the device (in days)?
Less than 1 day
Adhesives that are suitable for short-term wearable devices should provide a good balance between secure adherence and ease of application and removal.
In the design of single-use devices, it is recommended to prioritize ease of application and removal. For these devices that are intended for less than 1 day of wear, it is therefore advisable to select adhesives and materials suited for daily, single-use applications to ensure comfort and minimize skin impact.
The adhesive materials should not only be hypoallergenic and breathable to keep the skin healthy during wear, but also provide secure adherence for the short-term duration without leaving residues or causing skin irritation upon removal. Given the short wear time, there is an option to consider silicone-based adhesives (silicone gel) for the application. While acrylic adhesives can be suitable for the application, silicone gel could provide a skin-friendly option while holding the device in place on the skin.
If the wearable device is large or heavy, or if it needs to stick to a challenging area like the abdomen, a more aggressive adhesive will be necessary to secure the attachment. It is key to select adhesives that are strong enough to maintain the device in place through various daily activities.
