We are resolutely committed to formulating and providing innovative products and materials that not only excel in eco-friendliness but also deliver inventive solutions to our clients. By prioritizing sustainable materials, we want to replace less eco-conscious components with greener alternatives.
Efforts to reduce our carbon footprint extend throughout our global supply chain. By minimizing emissions and waste across the entire lifecycle of our products, we're ensuring that sustainability is woven into every aspect of our operations. Our environmental footprint showcases the tangible results of our sustainability initiatives, like the installation of our first on-site wind turbine together with Eneco in 2017 at our facility in Turnhout, Belgium, which produces pressure-sensitive tapes and medical products. In just one year, the new wind turbine generated 4.3 gigawatt-hours out of a maximum capacity of 4.8, which is 25% of the Turnhout plant’s annual energy consumption.
An even larger initiative was launched recently. In Turnhout, Belgium, Avery Dennison commissioned Europe’s largest Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) platform and Thermal Storage unit at its production plant. The renewable energy project contains a Concentrated Solar Thermal platform with 2,240 surface mirrors, with a solar field peak yield of 2.7 MW thermal power, and six thermal storage modules with a capacity of 5 MWh thermal power.
